Cleft of the Rock Bible Chapel

Our Statement of Faith

Cleft of the Rock Bible Chapel, by God's grace and through illumination from the Holy Spirit,
seeks to Glorify God through worship, to develop growth and fellowship of the believers, and to
communicate the truth of salvation to the world through the discipleship of men, women and
children to and in Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.

1. We believe in the Bible as the Divinely inspired inerrant Word of God, the revelation of His
mind and His will to man and our infallible, all-sufficient guide for salvation and for the
Christian life. (2 Timothy 3:16-17: 2 Peter 1:20-21).

2. We believe in one God, the Creator of all, eternally existing in three persons; Father, Son
and Holy Spirit. (Hebrews 9:14: Colossians 2:9).

3. We believe in the deity of the Lord Jesus Christ. That He is true God and true man. That
He was begotten of the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, and that He has a perfect and sinless
humanity. (John 1:1: Philippians 2:6: Matthew 1:23-25:1 John 3:5).

4. We believe that man is sinful and separated from God, that this separation is a result of
Adam's fall in the Garden of Eden, and that man is unable to save himself from eternal
punishment by his own works. (Genesis 3: Romans 3:23: Ephesians 2:8-9).

5. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the saved and the unsaved, the everlasting
blessedness of the saved (1 Thessalonians 4:14): and the everlasting punishment of the
lost (Revelation 20:11-15).

6. We believe in the finished work of Christ on the Cross of Calvary, through which sacrifice
God offers complete and eternal redemption to all. (John 3:16).

7. We believe that God, confirming the redemptive work of Christ, has raised Him from the
dead, enthroned Him at His own right hand in Heaven, set Him as the Head of the Church,
High Priest over the House of God, Lord of the Christian and advocate in the family of God.
(Hebrews 1:3: Ephesians 1:19-23. 5:23).

8. We believe in the immediate and eternal salvation of every person who truly believes on
Christ, and who by faith rests on His finished work as the only righteous ground on which a
Holy God can forgive his sins. (John 5:24: Ephesians 4:30: Romans 3:25).

9. We believe that all who by faith in His redemptive work on the Cross of Calvary receive the
Lord Jesus Christ, are born again by the Holy Spirit, indwelt by the Holy Spirit, and
baptized by the Holy Spirit into the Body of Christ, the Church. (1 Corinthians 12:12-14:
Ephesians 1:22-23: Colossians 1:18).

10. We believe that the church is the dwelling of God through His Spirit, and that its members
are to gather together unto Christ and in His name alone, for the purpose of worship,
prayer, teaching, fellowship and evangelism. (Matthew 18:20: Acts 2:44-47).

11. We believe in the personal coming of the Lord to Rapture (catch up) the Church. (1
Thessalonians 4:13-17).

12. We believe in the revelation of Christ in glory at his second advent to the earth to establish
His Kingdom on earth and to reign in righteousness (2 Thessalonians 1:6-10: Philippians
2:2-11).

13. We believe that there are two Christian ordinances commanded by the Lord: (a) We
believe that baptism (Matthew 28:19; Colossians 2:12) is for believers upon confession of
their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 8:35-39). It signifies that the one being baptized
has died with Christ unto sin, has been buried with Him and is risen with Him to walk in
newness of life (Romans 6:3-5). (b) We believe that the Lord's Supper (Luke 22:19-20)
was commemorated by the early church on the first day of the week (Acts 20:7) and we
believe it is the privilege and duty of all true believers to heed the Lord's request, "do this in
remembrance of me" (Luke 22:19-20).

14. We believe that the local church or assembly is not subject to any outside ecclesiastical
authority but to God alone (Ephesians 5:24). and is responsible for its own government and
discipline (1 Timothy 5:15.20; 1 Peter 5:2-3).
